It can be challenging for a working parent to find ways of developing good habits in their children because of their chock-o-block schedule. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed in such situations. Working parents often end up feeling pulled in two different directions as they want to focus on the development of their child but also find it difficult to make time for it. But, nothing is impossible when you are determined. Here, we have curated useful tips that will help you understand how to teach good habits to your kids and manage work-life balance.

1. Be a role model

Children learn from their surroundings or from those around them, including instructors, caretakers, friends, and even what they watch on television and the internet. They will mimic your characteristics as parents and constant companions. Because you are your children's primary role model, setting a good example is one of the most effective methods to help them acquire good habits.

2. Don’t burden children with high expectations

As a parent, you must not burden your child with your expectations. . It is critical to understand what jobs your children can and cannot do, basis their age and level of understanding.

Instead, appreciate them for small accomplishments like finishing their food or reading the alphabets correctly. It could be something as basic as saying "thank you" for brushing their teeth on a regular basis, or helping you with daily chores.

3. Let them ask ‘Why’

Always encourage a curious mind. While it is important for children to learn to have respect for authority, they should not be raised as blind followers. A key step when teaching them a good habit is to make them understand the reason behind it or let them ask questions.

4. Don’t let culture and society lessen your child’s uniqueness

Many parents are conscious about how the society perceives them and this, in turn, can tie down their children. It can hamper your child’s uniqueness and their individuality. A child’s personality and decision-making ability should not come at the cost of losing their own identity.

5. Make Room for Failure and Improvement

As a parent, you may already be aware that not everything goes according to plan. Expect your children to make mistakes or refuse to do things at times. At times, it is acceptable for your child to skip eating their greens, or attend that one important lecture, or fail to pick up their beds on occasion. Making room for failure and improvement completely normal. We as adults too make mistakes, don't we?

We hope these useful tips will come in handy and help you nurture righteous habits in your child while at the same time, helping you focus on your office work.
